Cornelis
Associate Consultant, Irregular Threats
Irregular warfare, cyber-irregular convergence, and the ground-level perspective rarely available in headquarters-based analysis.
Cornelis is the firm's associate consultant for irregular threats and asymmetric warfare analysis. His career has moved fast for his age. He came up through light-infantry, field-analytical, and technical-cyber roles, with active deployments earlier than most of his peers.
His operational exposure has been unusually broad for so early a profile. He has served on light-infantry deployments, evaluated human and signals-derived source material at the field level, and worked extensively on the technical side of cyber operations. On at least one occasion, he took part in a hostile-environment extraction supporting a political detainee in Latin America. The cumulative effect is first-hand familiarity with irregular and guerrilla warfare, both kinetic and digital.
At Aethelgard, Cornelis contributes a vantage point that boutique advisories rarely have on staff. He brings the texture of how asymmetric and cyber conflict unfolds at the level where decisions get made and reversed. He is regularly drawn on to stress-test threat assessments, audit operational assumptions in client analyses, and provide ground-truth review of scenarios constructed from secondary sources.
He is comfortable operating across multiple time zones and integrates fluidly into distributed teams of analysts, researchers, and external specialists. He works in German, English, Russian, Ukrainian, Farsi, and Arabic. The range gives the firm direct access to primary-language source material across the regions where contemporary irregular conflict is concentrated.
